Wednesday, October 6th 2004 Market days in Pistoia
Free afternoon or visiting museums | |
Breakfast at the hotel. We will experience the pleasures of a typical Italian street market.
Market days in Pistoia are Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Piazza del Duomo and several adjoining streets fill with vendors selling everything imaginable. This is a fine opportunity to buy clothing, shoes, and many other types of goods. The region surrounding Florence is a major manufacturing area that supplies the city's shops, so excellent bargains are often to be had from the vendors. The market tradition has existed for a thousand years, and is still the preferred way for many Italians to do their shopping.
Lunch on the go.
The afternoon is free to spend as the tour members wish. Shopping, visiting the museums, or simply enjoying a glass of wine at a street side bar or restaurant are all fine possibilities.
Dinner at a local restaurant.
